Dear sir
I was favoured with your letter about a week ago; but we were just terminating our winter session, & I was so much occupied with professional business that I was obliged to defer answering it till now. I shall answer your queries as well as I can.
1. the degrees on my saccharometer moliscate the specific gravity of the wort or wash at the temperature of 60° fahr [Fahrenheit] (15° centigrade)
2 This not possible to give a precise answer to your second question; because the quantity of spirits spielded depends upon the goodness of the grain employed & upon the mucss of the fermentation; both of hich are exceedingly various. 100lbs of good barley when malted become 92lbs. When 92lbs of good malt are properly treated with water, about 46lbs are dissolved. When 46lbs were moress sally fermented they ought to yield 18lbs of alcohol of Sf. gr. 0.825 or perhaps a little more _ the loner the specific gravity of the wash is the greater is the product gravity of the wash is the greater is the product
